Will Self-Tanner cover my bug bites?

I had a great question from a Self Tanning Queen Facebook Fan asking if whether or not self-tanner would cover up or disguise the bug bites on her legs. The short answer is “Yes and No”! Yes, in that the bug bites will seem less “angry” or red when the surrounding skin is tan vs. snow white and pale. But, the bites and scars will still be there and there is a chance that the DHA, the active ingredient in all self-tanners, may be a bit irritating to those areas. I suggested that she do a test patch to make sure it does not irritate her anymore before applying it all over and that she does not apply self-tanner to any open sores. Then I would take a slightly damp Q-tip and swab the bites so that the self-tanner does not make them any darker. Once the self-tanner develops, I recommended that she use a product called“Dermablend – Leg and Body Cover” directly on the bites to cover them and make then less noticeable. Ulta.com carries it on their site and they have other great products which are fantastic for camouflaging tattoos, scars and other things you want to hide!
