Will Self-Tanner change my tattoo?

Posted on | May 7, 2010 | 6 Comments

KatVonDSince I have had several people recently ask me if self-tanner will change the color of their tattoos, I thought I would address it on my blog today! The short answer is – not generally!  The darker the ink color such as black, gray or blue you will not see any changes,  On lighter ink colors such as yellow or red you may see some slight darkening of the tattoo but the resulting color will fade as the tan fades. You can also use a dry wash cloth or Q-Tip to remove any excess self-tanning product from the tattooed area to lighten the self-tanning effect.  Most people however, do not see any changes at all.

Hope this helps!

I fell in love with the youtube videos about SunLove Self Tanning Products – so I ordered it. And I waited and I waited, and I waited. They took my money immediately, and I wait over a month to get the product, and that was after several emails and phones calls. When it finally arrived, I couldn’t wait to use it. When I did, it “spat” out of the container and globbed all over the shower floor. There was no nice spray like they showed in the videos. The air can didn’t work correctly. I call they again, left another message, explained the problem and ordered the travel size can at the same time. That was 4-19-10 – I wanted it for a trip I was taking. I spoke to the owner herself, asked that they send it to me 2-3 Day Priority – not a problem she said. It came today, May 11, 2010, (again, after severy emails and and very upsetting phone call) – long after I needed it and I want to remind you, the Travel can costs the same as the whole system. The label on the can looks like a prototype – pieces together. I took a blank piece of paper and sprayed it with the product, and that to “spat” out and globbed up the paper. The color is good, however, the delivery system is very poor. The small aerosol can that came with the system lasted for only 3 applications, now I have a whole bottle of liquid and no way to apply it. They never answer their phones and they don’t respond to emails. I wanted to let you know, if anyone else is having the same problem with the aerosol can, you can go to any paint store and for about $4 you get a product called “Proval”. It’s a small glass container with and aerosol can attached that is used for spraying small areas with paint. It works great – much better then the system they send to you. These are just my thoughts, however, I think the company is having production/shipping issues. They take the oney up front and you have to battle to get the products from them.

    Hi Dusty.
I am so sorry to hear about your terrible experience you had with SunLove Tanning products. Unfortunately, I have heard this several times which is really sad. Thank you for the warning and your comment.
    Warmly,

I do think that if you still want your tattoo to pop and look normal, maybe using a q-tip like you said will work. You can maybe cover the tattoo before going on a spray tan hahaha, I think that would work.
